Overview

About Scaler Marketing

Scaler Marketing is a growth and web development agency that builds high-performance websites and web ecosystems for growing brands. We’re a tight-knit, 12-person remote team that punches well above our weight—delivering results that rival agencies charging two to three times our rates. We work on enterprise-level projects, and we build long-term partnerships with clients through ongoing maintenance and growth retainers.

We’re at an inflection point. The work speaks for itself—our referrals, Webflow Enterprise pipeline, and inbound leads prove that. But we’ve been growing on reputation alone, without a dedicated growth engine. That’s where you come in.

The Opportunity

This is a foundational hire. You won’t be inheriting a playbook—you’ll be writing it. As our first Director of Business Development, you’ll build the systems, processes, and materials that transform Scaler from a founder-led sales operation into a scalable growth machine.

You’ll work directly alongside our co-founders, David and Jesse, to close the gap between the quality of our work and our ability to communicate that value to prospects. The founders will continue to close deals—your job is to make sure more qualified opportunities make it to the table and that we show up with the right materials, positioning, and strategy to win.

Why Scaler

  • Foundational role with real impact: You’re not filling a seat—you’re building a function. Your work will directly shape the company’s growth trajectory.
  • Quality you can stand behind: We don’t cut corners. You’ll be selling work you’re genuinely proud of, backed by a team that delivers.
  • Direct access to leadership: You’ll work side by side with both co-founders. No layers, no bureaucracy—just fast decisions and real partnership.
  • Remote-first culture: Work from anywhere in the US. We’re a distributed team that values results over hours logged.
  • Growth upside: As Scaler scales, this role grows with us. There’s a clear path to building and leading a growth team.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus performance-based incentives tied to revenue growth. Full details are discussed during the interview process.

Responsibilities

Sales Process & Pipeline

  • Build and own a repeatable sales process from first touch to signed contract
  • Manage and nurture the inbound pipeline: referrals, Webflow Enterprise leads, tradeshow contacts, and website inquiries
  • Qualify and prioritize leads so founders can focus on closing, not sorting
  • Conduct win/loss analysis on every deal to continuously sharpen our approach
  • Track pipeline health, conversion rates, and revenue forecasts in ClickUp
  • Identify and pursue strategic outbound opportunities aligned with our ideal client profile

Sales Enablement & Materials

  • Redesign our case studies to tell compelling, results-driven stories—not just project recaps
  • Create a polished pitch deck and capabilities presentation
  • Overhaul proposal templates to better articulate our value and differentiation
  • Build a library of sales assets: one-pagers, competitive comparisons, client testimonials, and ROI frameworks
  • Develop pricing and packaging strategies for project and retainer offerings

Marketing & Content

  • Own and execute a content calendar that positions Scaler as a thought leader in technology and business growth
  • Produce marketing content: blog posts, LinkedIn strategy, email campaigns, and social media
  • Develop tradeshow strategy—pre-event outreach, booth presence, and post-event follow-up sequences
  • Support SEO and organic visibility initiatives for scalermarketing.com

Positioning & Strategy

  • Sharpen Scaler’s competitive positioning against agencies delivering inferior work at higher rates
  • Help articulate why Scaler’s approach delivers better outcomes—and make that case impossible to ignore
  • Identify opportunities to move upmarket into larger projects with expanded post-launch retainers
  • Map the competitive landscape and develop strategies to win head-to-head evaluations

Qualifications

Required

  • 5–8+ years of experience in B2B services business development, growth, or sales—ideally in a digital agency or professional services environment
  • You’ve built a sales process from the ground up, not just inherited one
  • Strong portfolio of sales materials you’ve created: decks, case studies, proposals, or similar collateral
  • Proven ability to manage a pipeline, forecast revenue, and drive consistent deal flow
  • Exceptional written and verbal communicator who can translate technical work into business value
  • Analytical mindset: you measure what matters and use data to inform strategy
  • Comfortable in a fully remote, async-first environment using tools like Slack and ClickUp
  • Self-starter who thrives with autonomy and doesn’t need to be told what to do next

Preferred

  • Experience in the Webflow ecosystem or deep familiarity with the web design and development agency landscape
  • Background selling $100K–$500K+ engagements to mid-market or enterprise clients
  • Experience positioning a premium service against both lower- and higher-cost competitors
  • Familiarity with partner or channel sales, such as technology partner programs like Webflow Enterprise
  • Content marketing chops—you can write a compelling blog post, not just a sales email
  • Experience with tradeshow strategy and event-based lead generation

Tools & Platforms

Experience with some or all of the following is a plus:

  • ClickUp — project and task management
  • Slack — async team communication
  • Webflow — understanding the platform we build on
  • Clay — lead enrichment, prospecting workflows, and outbound automation
  • HubSpot or a similar CRM — pipeline management, deal tracking, and reporting
  • LinkedIn Sales Navigator — prospect research and outbound engagement
  • Figma — collaborating with designers on proposals and materials
  • Google Analytics, GA4, and GTM — understanding web performance, attribution, and tag management
  • Notion — documentation, knowledge bases, and collaborative planning
  • Superhuman — high-performance email communication and outreach
  • Loom — async video for internal communication and sales follow-ups
